The Story Behind Brain Care Path
When my son was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, I did what every terrified parent does: I searched the internet at 2 a.m., fell into a spiral of worst-case scenarios written in language I didn’t understand, and felt utterly alone in a situation that affects hundreds of thousands of families around the world.

Over the next 28 days, I read everything I could find — neurology textbooks, clinical trial summaries, patient forums, research papers. I built a picture, piece by piece, of what my son’s condition actually meant, what treatment looked like, and what life with hydrocephalus could look like. The information was all there. It just wasn’t anywhere I could find it quickly, clearly, or in plain English.
That gap is why Brain Care Path exists.
Who I Am
My name is Haris Bin Tahir. I’m a father, a researcher by temperament, and someone who believes that understanding a medical condition is the first step to navigating it with confidence.
I’m not a doctor or a neurologist. I’m a parent who spent hundreds of hours immersed in the medical literature on hydrocephalus, epilepsy, and related neurological conditions — and who found, over time, that the knowledge genuinely helps. It helps in appointments with neurosurgeons. It helps in recognising when something is wrong. And it helps in the quieter moments, when you simply need to understand what is happening inside your child’s brain.
What This Site Is For
Brain Care Path is for English-speaking families navigating neurological conditions — particularly hydrocephalus and epilepsy — who need accurate, clearly written information they can actually use.
Every article here is written to the standard I wish had existed when my son was first diagnosed: medically grounded, plainly explained, and honest about uncertainty. You will find guides to conditions, explanations of treatments, research summaries, and practical advice built on the real experience of living with these diagnoses.
Nothing on this site replaces your neurosurgeon. But it can help you walk into that appointment better prepared — and walk out with a clearer understanding of what comes next.
